What is Opinion City about?

Opinion City claims to be a website that connects you with the top market research companies that you can sign up in order to get paid surveys to complete.

In other terms, they tell you what survey sites and market research companies you need to join for them to send you surveys.

They say that they make sure the companies or websites they recommend are legit, but I’m kind of skeptical when it comes to this.

I mean, I noticed they recommend legitimate survey sites but I also noticed one website that’s not legit, so not sure why they have it on their website if everything they recommend is supposed to be legitimate.

I decided to sign up to see what’s inside their members area and I’m pretty disappointed, to be honest. It turns out to be worse than I expected so I surely will not be wasting my time on Opinion City.

How does Opinion City work?

After signing up, I received an email from them with the link to the members area.

Honestly, I didn’t get good vibes after signing up because there’s nowhere I can edit the information I’ve given them.

In the dashboard area there’s no account settings and nothing that shows I have signed up, which means that it’s not possible to delete my account or change my email address. It doesn’t look like a members area.

There’s no much stuff inside the dashboard area, only these 3 tabs:

  • Highly Recommended. They recommend 12 survey sites/market research companies like Panda Research, Toluna and Panel Bucks.
  • Bonus Surveys. They recommend 3 survey sites like Survey Queen and Jobs2Shop, which claim you can earn $100 for sharing your opinion, but I’ve looked into them and they don’t have any positive reviews.
  • Coupons & Freebies. Here they only recommend 1 website, which got me surprised because there are many websites that offer discounts & freebies.

Opinion City scam signs

After having looked deep into the Opinion City main page and the dashboard area, I have found some red flags and scam signs that I’m going to point out because they indicate Opinion City is not as good as they claim.

  • Lack of transparency when it comes to the owners

There’s no information about the owners of Opinion City, but in their main page, we’re introduced to Alyssa, who is said to be a consumer trend investigator.

However, I did an image search and it turns out that the woman from the picture above is not Alyssa and has nothing to do with Opinion City.

Her picture can be found on multiple sites, which means that the people behind Opinion City have grabbed that picture to create a fake character.

Below you can see the proof:

The fact that the creators of Opinion City are being dishonest about their identity is one of the reasons I can’t trust this place.

Legitimate companies and websites wouldn’t lie about the people who are running them.

  • Some links don’t work

When I wanted to check out the survey sites and market research companies they recommend, I found out that the links don’t work.

Some links are broken and others take to different websites than the ones they promote, which makes it very misleading and also indicates it’s outdated.

What’s the point of recommending websites if the links they provide don’t work? I actually got surprised when I saw they weren’t working because it means that the people behind Opinion City are going to make less money than they could if there was nothing wrong with the links.

  • Fake scarcity

Another thing I noticed is that they claim there are limited spots available when it comes to joining these survey sites.

The truth is that this is a complete lie because these survey sites never limit the amount of people who can sign up.

If you go directly to these survey sites, you will see that they don’t say anything about their spots being limited.

The people behind Opinion City are using this fake scarcity tactic to get you to join these websites as fast as possible, but the funny thing is that their links don’t even work lol.

I have reviewed many scams and worthless sites that use this fake scarcity tactic to get people to spend money as fast as possible.

  • Why are they recommending this?

Not all their recommended survey sites are legit. For example, they recommend MySurveyJobs.com which claims you can earn $500 per survey.

If they claim to make sure that their recommendations are legit, why are they recommending MySurveyJobs??

I remember writing a review of MySurveyJobs.com some months ago and can guarantee it’s not worth it.

Just the fact that they claim you can make $500 for surveys is something that indicates they are doing false advertising.

Taking paid surveys is a way to earn some pocket money (up to $2 per survey), so don’t be fooled by these scammers that claim you can make $500 per survey completed.

It makes no sense that there are companies willing to pay $500 just to know your opinion because there are maaany people taking paid surveys, so companies are not going to pay $500 to every single person who completes surveys.

Don’t you think completing surveys would be everyone’s favorite job if it were possible to earn that much?

  • They lie about their Facebook page’s likes

The con artists behind Opinion City also lie about their Facebook page’s likes. If you take a look at the Opinion City main page, you can observe that it’s supposed to have 10K likes.

But I searched for their page on Facebook and I found out it only has 5 likes!

Why are they lying about their Facebook page’s likes if anyone can look for it and find the truth?

I guess they want to gain credibility and make people think that they are popular. Their goal is to look more legitimate than they really are.

Can you make money thanks to Opinion City?

Honestly, I don’t think you can make money thanks to Opinion City.

Even though they recommend some survey sites that are legit, I don’t believe you can make money through Opinion City simply because their links don’t work!

If they added more legitimate sites and changed their broken links, then yeah, you could make money through them.

If you want to make money from their recommended sites, you can search for them on Google and register right away. You don’t need to register to Opinion City to get those survey sites to send you surveys.

The job of Opinion City is to save you some research time, but the fact that their links are broken forces you to look for the survey sites yourself.

Is Opinion City legit?

I wouldn’t say Opinion City is 100% legit because some of the tactics they use are not legit at all.

Let’s summarize the good:

  • They recommend legitimate survey sites.
  • It’s free to join.

Let’s summarize the bad:

  • They lie about their Facebook page’s likes.
  • No account setting on the dashboard area.
  • They use the false scarcity tactic.
  • The links provided don’t work.
  • The owners don’t show up.
  • They recommend a scammy survey site.

As you can see, there’s more bad than good so is Opinion City a scam? It actually depends on your definition of scam.

They are not asking you for any money but they are not providing anything valuable, which means that Opinion City is not worth it.

In my opinion, it’s just another worthless website, not to mention that the owners are not making that much money from it because most links provided don’t work.

Other paid survey programs that are not recommneded are the following:

Because of everything mentioned in this review, I don’t recommend Opinion City.

  1. Hello there Miren.

    Really enjoyed this review.

I hate scams and you are doing an amazing job showcasing these kind of websites.

As you said, this website looks fishy from the start. Especially the owner transparency.

There is no way that you could earn 500$ per survey.

I also had bad experience with Rewarding Ways.

They also offer surveys but many people reported mistreatment and its best to avoid them also.

    Best regards,
    Strahinja

  2. Hello Miren,
Great review! Thorough and very detailed. In my opinion survey sites are not worth the time. You can’t make a decent amount of money and you have to spend hours filling surveys for a few dollars.

Opinion City is just one of those sites that are a waste of time. I haven’t personally tried it but like you said there are so many red flags it is obvious there are better ways to make money online.

    1. Hi Nikos,

Glad that this review was helpful to you!

I completely agree with you, taking surveys for cash is not worth the time because it’s very time-consuming and there’s not much to be earned.

Thanks for dropping by, have a nice day =)

  3. There is nothing more I hate is these companies scamming people for there time, money and energy. I appreciate that you have mentioned some red flags concerning Opinion City. It totally looks fishy as I can tell by your review. In the past I have done a quite bit of surveys online, but nothing like Opinion City claiming to make that kind of money. I have yet seen any survey based on my own experience make $500 a day. I do appreciate the awareness of opinion city.

    1. Hi Anthony,

You’re right, most claims they make are very misleading because there’s no way to make $500 a day taking surveys.

Anyway, glad to hear that you found this review helpful!

      Have a nice day =)

      Miren
